Speaker Profile

Kevin Conlon, Managing Director of KinnectKevin Conlon, Managing Director of Kinnect, Australia’s #1 Privately Owned Occupational Health Company.

Kevin describes his success an overnight one that merely took 20 years. Kevin founded KINNECT in Townsville Queensland in 1996 with his best friend, after realising in his second year at university that his degree really didn’t lead to a job unless he created it! After selling everything he owned, KINNECT started under a house while he lived in a caravan out the back. The reason to start the business was in fact not about the business but simply about a fundamental focus of helping people, which to this day drives both Kevin and KINNECT.

KINNECT has grown from a sole health professional delivering health services to now over 160 KINNECTer’s in 13 offices providing Full Service Occupational Health across Australia and New Zealand.

During this time KINNECT has not only helped hundreds of thousands of people be Healthy, Safe and Productive at Work but also grown to be recognised as one of the best places to work in Australia. KINNECT has been ranked in the top 20 Great Place to Work Awards since first entering in 2015. KINNECT had 17 people in 2012 when the journey started. This same year Kevin completed his first year of an Entrepreneurs Organisation EMP program at MIT in Boston USA where he set a goal to not have a good Employer Branding and Employee Value Proposition but to have one of the best in the country. This started with identifying A players, full transparency, Scorecards, Celebrating success (KINNECT day), Feedback and Monthly Culture Measurement and Management to name but a few points. We have grown more in the past 5 years than we did in the first 16 and I put that down to two things 1. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but 2. Once I worked out the importance of EB and EVP everything followed!
